EARNING THE HEART OF LOVE
There is a space created by love in our hearts
Formed from the day we were conceived
That continuously yearn to be filled
But first require us be defenseless just as babies are.
Hiding behind the mask of insecurity
We doubt the strength of what is inside of us
We keep going back and forth in time
To see if we really are the light people see reflect in us
Because we are scared we let love down
Can we ever earn the heart of love?
Reaching out so we will be pulled close.
Demanding us surrender our hearts of rebellion.
When dangers silently lay in wait to devour.
questioning whether we are genuine or another deceitful being
Are we just a sum of every rise and fall of the life’s tidal waves?
Playing roles as actors on a stage?
Who wear masquerades of pretense
Hiding the marks of scars and injuries
And wondering if it’s safe to tell.
