Melodies Played In Silence

In the shadow deep where words cannot reach
I stand alone bereft of speech
A heart so full yet with a tongue tied up
In silent screams where feelings hide

I wish to paint in vibrant hue
The depth of what I feel for you
Yet every stroke seems so pale and weak
A muted world where colors speak

My words like timid bird in flight
Lost within passing nights
Flattering far from where you stand
Perching far from the warmth your embrace

I yearn for you to truly see
The aching void that dwells within
To know the loneliness worn at sleeve
Like the chains that keep the prisoner abound

The soul pleads for thine tender love
That fills the desperate heart with sweet symphony
Playing for you but far from the reach of your ears
Its mournful tune so crystal clear

If only words could bridge the sea
That stretches wide tween you and I
I’d forge a path somehow to you

But here in solitude I stand
In the quite room where love elude.
Alone, unspoken sonnet bound
By fears that keep the heart unwound.

So, in the silent I remain
In hopes that love will whisper my name in thine ear.
To have your eyes open anew
And see how deep our souls are knitted together.
